58. Stroke of Midnight

Stroke of Midnight - Anthology

Start: 8.27.08
Finish: 8. 31.08

Winter Born by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Two enemy Were-Panthers discover that fate has destined they become lovers. Pandora must learn to trust Dante's foreign nature. But as she slowly succumbs to the truest passion she has ever known, dark forces have already set out to reclaim her...
***** - I checked this book out because of this author. I just finished reading Kiss of the Night, and Dante was in that book. It was neat to read a story about one of the Were-Animals.

Born of the Night by Amanda Ashley

When Lady Shanara Montiori is taken hostage, she learns that the rumors about her captor are true. Lord Reyes is afflicted with the dark curse of the werewolf. Still, Shanara can't fight the attraction they both feel. Will their love break the curse-or feed its powerful hold?

**** - This was a pretty good short story . . . Predictable, but a fun.

Make It Last Forever by L. A. Banks
An innocent mistake forces the beautiful Tara onto a mission to save herself from the dark fate that awaits her. Salvation comes in the form of a seductive biker with a heart of gold. But will surrendering to their ripe attraction unleash a danger even she cannot control?
** This one was a struggle for me to read.

Red Moon Rising by Lori Handeland
Novelist Maya Alexander's peace is shattered when she is stalked by a Navaho skinwalker who has taken on the guise of a wolf. Her only hope is the mysterious Clay Philips. In his arms, she seeks protection-but as the red moon rises, no one is safe from the danger that lurks nearby...
***** I really enjoyed this story. This was my 2nd favorite in this book.

The Rana Look (*Audio CD)

The Rana Look *** by Sandra Brown

Start: 8.27.08
Finish: 8.29.08

This was an okay romance. It was pretty predictable, but then again . . . most romance novels are. Girl resists guy . . . girl's resistance starts to melt . . . girl & guy hook up . . . guy freaks out over some monkey wrench in the relationship . . . guy realizes he can't live without girl . . .

There's the basic outline for most romance novels . . . although some have a twist and reverese the girl/guy roles.

Skin (*Audio CD)

Skin by Ted Dekker

Start: 8/18/08
Finish: 8/27/08

This is the first book I've read/listened to, so I wasn't sure what to expect.

This turned out to be a great suspense novel. Dekker really keeps you on your toes, and I'm still not sure IF I totally got everything. The book ends on a kind of cliffhanger . . . so it will be interesting to see if this is the end of the story, or if he has other books in mind for this.

I'll definitely be checking out more of his books.

57. Kiss of the Night

Kiss of the Night (5th Dark-Hunter) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Start: 8/23/08
Finish: 8/25/08

This book started out a little slow, but man did it pick up some speed. I love the little twists that each of these Dark-Hunters end up having.

Wulf turned out to be a pretty awesome Dark-Hunter, and Cassandra is a pretty kick butt heroine.

Kat is introduced in this book (she's the heroine in Devil May Cry).

My favorite converted Dark-Hunters make an appearance in this book too. It's great that they show up in later books.

56. Eternal Lover

Eternal Lover - Anthology

The Yearning by Hannah Howell - I love her stories . . . this is the reason I checked this book out. Another really good story from her.

Hell of a Time by Jackie Kessler - This is the first story I've read by this author. I think I liked it. I'm pretty sure that Jess & Paul are carry over characters from a full length book, so that sort of colors the story for me when I'm not familiar with the background story(ies).

City of Demonds by Richelle Mead - This was my least favorite story. . . It was just ok I guess.

Bitten by Lynsay Sands - I really liked this one too. This is another author I've been meaning to read, but just haven't found the time to get to them.

55. Dance With The Devil

Dance With The Devil (4th Dark-Hunter) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Start: 8/20/08
Finish: 8/22/08

This has to be my favorite book so far. Zarek is just awesome.

54. Turbulent Seas

Turbulent Sea (6th Drake Sister) by Christine Feehan

Start: 8/17/08
Finish: 8/20/08

It was a lot of fun watching Joley come to terms with the destiny she faced with Ilya. And lets face it . . . Ilya is a super intriguing (hot) guy.

I did miss the interaction between all the sisters. They were kept at a distance for 95% of this book, whereas the other books had a lot more interaction between them.

I kind of miss the guys too. Damon, Matt, Alexsandr, Ty, Jonas, Jackson . . . They're all amazing guys . . . but Hannah's book is the only one that really even featured more than a glimpse of them.
